TEXAS BOARD OF NURSING STIMPULATION COURSES
 

Ames High is pleased to announce that they have been approved by the Texas Board of Nursing to offer Stipulation courses to nurses who are under order from the Board. If you are taking a course that requires a clinical component, you will be required to show proof of malpractice coverage.

Objectives

  • Define the purpose of documentation
  • Identify Minimum Standards of Professional Nursing Practice and Unprofessional Conduct relative to documentation
  • Identify basic requirements of legal documentation
  • Identify commonly used methods and processes of recording and reporting
  • Identify methods of alternative record keeping
  • Identify methods of computerized documentation

Teaching methods will include visual aids, handouts, group discussion and exercises. Evaluation in the form of pre/post tests will be included.

Medication Administration with clinical component

  • Describe the nurse’s licensure responsibilities related to medication administration
  • Describe the essential elements of a complete medication order
  • Describe the use of standard of standard and facility abbreviations
  • Describe the most common types of medication orders
  • Describe the use of the nursing process in adhering to the 6 rights of medication administration
  • Identify elements to reduce incidence of medication errors
  • Describe the nurse’s responsibility when a medication error is made
  • Describe the nursing management of intravenous medication administration.
