Back in December 2016 I posted a blog about goal setting. I had no idea that I would get to live out the steps so soon. I have had to use each step identified in that blog. I also experienced going forward and then having to back up before proceeding in order to reach my goal. Deciding what I wanted to do was the easy part. It has been everything that followed that I’ve found challenging. Working with a consultant/coach forced me to write out my plan – in my case a new comprehensive business plan was the starting point and it is continuously being revised. In addition to the monetary costs, my patience is a major payment. I learned to identify other tasks and actions I could take while playing the waiting game with some agency.
So if you’ve been wondering why I’ve been so quiet lately, I’m about to share with you my activities of the past couple of month.
- I have been exploring and restructuring my company. This process is painstakingly slow. It seemed that every time I was making progress, something had to be redone or there was a new or additional requirement that had to be met. Though you will see only minimal changes, believe me there was more. There was a test of my patience at times because of the waiting between steps for approval from some entity. The results is being rolled out slowly. You will see a change in the name of the company. Since we were seeking to become a limited liability corporation (LLC) our name had to be registered with the Secretary of State. That required some modification because the name must be unique. It cannot be spelled the same, be in reversed order, or any other possibly confusion configuration. To correct this, yet keep the name, I had to make the change. You will notice that in addition to the LLC that was added to our name, the second part is spelled differently. We are now Ames Heigh LLC. We hope to have an impact beyond continuing nursing education, so we chose our tag line to be ‘Reach to be Your Best’. This also supports the name change because one meaning of heigh (pronounced high) is expressing encouragement or inquiry. The first couple of years will be a test period as we expand.
For many of you, nothing will change. We will continue offer the Texas Board of Nursing courses for stipulation. We will expand our online offerings for Texas licensure renewal as well as periodic live offerings. We will be expanding the counseling and coaching as we proceed.
- Ames Heigh LLC continues to be an approved provider of continuing nursing education. We are seeking people with expertise, education, and a desire to contribute to the advancement of nursing and health care. If you are wondering how you can be a part of this evolution, we are looking for authors to write brief (1 hour) CE learning activities. We also need speakers/presenters for live programs. Our target audience is nurses and other health care providers in psychiatry and geriatrics. We will entertain general topics of interest that enhance knowledge and meet the definition of CNE in Texas. If the Texas definition is used, then the continuing nursing education activity will probably satisfy other jurisdictions and will be accepted by others entities requiring mandatory continuing education.
