Description/Goal/Purpose As caregivers we are so busy giving care that we forget how easy it is to engage in behaviors or activities that may not be in the client's best interest. This program is to address some of the ethical dilemmas we faced and that can impact our ability to be the best possible clinicians and caregivers. This program is designed for social workers, LPCs, and other healthcare providers and will meet the requirements for relicensure. It will address a variety of situations one encounters in their practice settings. This program will be interactive and provide the opportunity for dialogue with the presenter on topic issues.
Objectives: At the conclusion of this program you will be able to:
- Explain how acting on high temptations can result in damage to both clients and therapists
- Describe how high risk temptations manifest themselves and how acting upon them can be so easily rationalized and overlooked
- List the danger signs that a relationship with a client might be at high risk
- Discuss possible ways to manage sexual attraction to clients
- Compare acceptable and unacceptable touching of clients
- Outline the process of careful assessment of a client prior to engaging in a boundary crossing.
